Franscesca Melandri, who was awarded the 2019 Austrian Book Trade Honorary Award for Tolerance in Thought and Action at the European Literature Days, writes in her open letter about the Covid-19 outbreak “from your future”, published on 27 March 2020 in The Guardian: “If we turn our gaze to the more distant future, the future which is unknown both to you and to us too, we can only tell you this: when all of this is over, the world won’t be the same.”
