Introduction/Abstract

Musical accompaniment to texts from the novel by Josef Winkler.

The Wachauer Pestbläser play music for, with and about Josef Winkler. Lass dich heimgeigen, Vater... is about the collective silence surrounding events that cannot be silenced. The Wachauer Pestbläser strive through their music to remember the roaring silence in all those immediate, profound and unfathomable qualities of experience, which the Carinthian writer, Josef Winkler, sets in words in virtuoso fashion in his rustic novel, Lass dich heimgeigen, Vater, oder Den Tod ins Herz mir schreiben. The novel was shortlisted for the Austrian Book Prize 2018. The Wachauer Pestbläser encourage themselves and others to endure the silence of our times.
